GST/HST Credit Amounts (Snapshot)

Maximum 2026 GST/HST credit is $533 single, $698 couple, $184 per child under 19. Tax-free quarterly. CRA calculates automatically; no application needed.

Snapshot

For the July 2025 to June 2026 benefit year, CRA’s calculation sheet publishes the following GST/HST credit maximum components:

  • ~$349 per adult component (paid for each adult in the household)
  • ~$184 per child under 19
  • Up to ~$184 single supplement (where there is no spouse and no eligible dependant), income-tested
  • Payments are made quarterly (Jan / Apr / Jul / Oct) and are non-taxable
  • Reduction begins at adjusted family net income above approximately $46,000 for couples

From July 2026 onward the same program is rebranded as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) with components uplifted by 25% for five benefit years. Per Finance Canada the new maxima are approximately $950 single and $1,890 family of four for the July 2026 to June 2027 benefit year. A one-time top-up was paid June 5, 2026 to anyone entitled to the January 2026 GST/HST credit.
