The Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) is administered by Retraite Québec and applies to earnings in Quebec. It mirrors the federal Canada Pension Plan in rules and benefit amounts but has one important difference: Quebec raised the maximum deferral age to 72 in 2024.
How QPP compares to CPP
- Same 2025 maximum at age 65: $1,433/month
- Same early reduction: 0.6%/month before 65
- Same late enhancement: 0.7%/month after 65
- Quebec max deferral: age 72 (CPP: 70)
Working outside Quebec
If you work outside Quebec part of your career, your contributions go to CPP for those years and to QPP for Quebec years. At retirement the two plans coordinate and pay you a combined benefit.
