Canadian vacation pay is set by each province’s Employment Standards Act. The rate is a percentage of all gross earnings during the vacation entitlement year, not just base salary.
Vacation pay vs vacation time
These are separate rights. Vacation time is days off (2 or 3 weeks minimum). Vacation pay is the money, 4% or 6% of gross earnings. You’re entitled to both even if you don’t actually take the time off.
