Canada Learning Bond (CLB)

Federal grant of up to $2,000 per eligible child for lower-income families with an RESP. No family contribution required. Automatic enrollment expanding through 2026.

Eligibility

Child born in 2004 or later
Family receiving Canada Child Benefit
Family net income below threshold (approximately $56,000 for 2026 base, adjusted for family size)

Limits and rules

Initial $500 for first year of eligibility
$100 per additional eligible year, up to a lifetime $2,000 per child
No family contribution required; RESP must be open
