Canada Learning Bond (CLB)

Additional federal grant of up to $2,000 per child for lower-income families with an RESP. No contribution required.

Eligibility

  • Child born in 2004 or later
  • Family entitled to CCB
  • Family net income below threshold (~$55,000 for 2026 base, varies with family size)

Limits and rules

  • Initial $500 for first year of eligibility
  • $100 per additional year, up to a lifetime $2,000 per child
  • No family contribution required; must have RESP open
