The Canada Child Benefit (CCB) is a tax-free monthly payment from the federal government to families with children under 18. Amounts are based on number and age of children and family income.
2025-2026 maximum amounts
| Age of child | Annual | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Under 6 | $7,997 | $666.41 |
| 6 to 17 | $6,748 | $562.33 |
| Child Disability Benefit (each DTC-approved child) | $3,411 | $284.25 |
Income phase-out
Full CCB is paid when adjusted family net income (AFNI) is below $37,487. Above that, the benefit reduces at 7% (1 child), 13.5% (2), 19% (3), or 23% (4+) of income above the threshold.
Payment cycle
CCB is paid on the 20th of each month. Amounts recalculate every July based on the prior year’s tax return. Both spouses must file annual returns regardless of income for CCB to continue.
